Hello!

Welcome to Fat Medic Slim!

If you've come here through my other blog, Pickles and Bacon, thank you for following me on this journey.  I decided to move my weight loss journey posts over here because I didn't want to completely change up the roots and origins of that blog.  If you've found this blog through other means, I thank you for checking it out!

My hope for this blog is to document my weight loss journey and ultimate goal of losing 140 pounds.

My story starts out like many others.  I was always a big kid but generally active.  I always gravitated toward the junk food and wouldn't dare eat a fruit or vegetable willingly.  Even when I would kill a workout I'd come home and just stuff my face with all the crap I could imagine.  And it was so delicious.  I played sports in high school but I was never very serious about it.  When I got to my junior year we were allowed to drive to school and leave campus for lunch.  That's where my love and adoration of fast food began.  Not to mention I worked at Steak 'n Shake for a couple years.  Shortly after that I had my first baby and all hell broke loose.  That's when things started getting REALLY out of control.

Being pregnant gave me a license to eat whatever I wanted and in whatever quantity I saw fit.  I also said hello to 60 pounds and never really said goodbye to them.  I was 246 pounds when I gave birth to her.  I slowly climbed until I had gained another 20 pounds.  Then I got pregnant with my second baby.  The day I delivered him I weighed 296 pounds.  I lost all of his baby weight within 2 mos and stayed steady at that weight for a couple years.  Then I started paramedic school.

Medic school was terribly hectic and often found myself indulging in amazing firehouse meals and eating crap on the go. I was drinking upwards of 7 cans of Coke a day.  SEVEN.  Then I quit cold turkey and while that headache was unpleasant I didn't have a sip of pop for months.  It was shortly after graduating paramedic school that I left my then husband and the pounds piled on.  I was back up to weight I was when I delivered my son, except this time I wasn't pregnant.

That brings me to now.  I've had enough of being fat, unable to find decent clothes at decent prices, and always without energy.  I've decided that now is the time to get my ass in gear and get healthy.  A month into my new lifestyle and things are going incredibly well.  I will have an official weigh in on Wednesday and share a little about how I started and what I've found works for me and what doesn't.

Thanks for joining me on this journey!
